Miltonians asked to wear a poppy as Remembrance Day approaches.

Another Remembrance will soon be upon us; a time to reflect and pay tribute to those who answered the call to protect our freedom – and those who continue to do so.

And as always, there’s a number of services ahead to honour their service and sacrifice.

That begins this Sunday (Nov. 3) with the Soldier’s Memorial Haltonville Service at the Haltonville Cenotaph at the corner of Guelph Line and 15 Sideroad.

The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Nov. 10 will be the Victoria Park Cenotaph service, with veterans and dignitaries marching from the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 136 (21 Charles) to the park at 150 Mary St. for the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.

Refreshments will be served at the Legion afterwards.

From there will be the traditional Remembrance Day service on Monday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery (230 Ontario St.) A parade will form at 10:45 a.m. at the Cenotaph and make its way to the Cairn for the service.

Afterwards, veterans can enjoy a luncheon and Pilgrimage of Remembrance presentation at the Legion. Doors open at noon, while the presentation begins at 12:30 p.m. and the lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 and are now available while quantities last.

Miltonians are encouraged to buy a poppy at various retail store boxes around town, or from one of the Poppy Campaign volunteers who’ll be out until Nov. 11.

Adding to local Remembrance Day events this year is the recent display of 43 veterans banners along downtown Main Street as part of the Milton Legion’s Legacy of Honour program.
