Join Milton library for the opening of its Medicine Learning Garden

Host of activities planned for May 11 celebration

With May comes the start of gardening season, and a special time for Milton Public Library.

Residents are invited to visit Beaty Branch (945 Fourth Line) on Saturday, May 11 for the official reopening of the Medicine Learning Garden, which sits on lands of the Ajetance Treaty Number 19, held with the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation.

MP Adam van Koeverden will unveil new garden signage during the opening ceremony at 12:15 p.m.

Afternoon activities to follow include:

12:30 to 1 p.m.

A traditional ceremony will be held by Indigenous elders and knowledge keepers, who will share their insights, stories and teachings related to the garden and its significance.

1 to 3:30 p.m.

Scavenger hunt for kids in the garden

Colouring activities for kids in the library

Explore the ‘Beyond Words: Dictionaries and Indigenous Languages’ exhibit

1 to 1:30 p.m.

Storytime with Nancy Cooper. Blindigen! Amik Says Welcome – a story walk in the garden. Drop-in

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Drum music performance by Aqua in the garden. Drop-in

2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
